Grimey by Nature

I was reminiscing with a homie about the Vice "Run the Road" grime compilations that came out in the mid 00s and it got me thinking about one of my favorites off the first CD - what the guys on Sports Center would call a top cut.

Keep It Going Louder

Two incredible videos for one of my favorite Major Lazer cuts. Best enjoyed full-screen.

You're a Jerk

The NY Times just ran a story about jerking.

"Seen in formal terms, said Sally Sommer, a dance historian who teaches at Florida State University, jerking may merely be a cousin to the “lambada or the twist.” It is certainly, Ms. Sommer said, less physically demanding than krumping or vogueing or the other highly skilled and innovative urban forms of dance. But the lambada was a fad. The twist was a fad. And jerking, its adherents say, has a cultural resonance that goes beyond the Reject and the Tippy Toe."

Kobe

There was a cool story in the NY Times about Kobe yesterday.

"When you first come into the league, you’re trying to prove yourself as an individual, do things to assert yourself and establish yourself,” he added. “But then once you’ve done that, there’s another level to the game that’s more complex than figuring out how to put up big numbers as an individual."

LA Kicks

There were two pieces on sneakers in the LA Times the other day - one about DJ AM's sneaker collection and one about Nike's plans to retro Space Jam XIs.

One of the pairs touted in the auction are Eminem Jordan IVs - there are only 50 pairs. If you want to see some pictures of them (and other crazy rare kicks) check out Phase Two's blog. He's an Alaskan, a huge sneaker head and a really cool dude to boot (har).

Skirt steak remixed

The dudes over at Fool's Gold have a great label (A-Trak, Treasure Fingers, Kid Cudi, etc) and a cool blog.

One of the things they also like to do is post recipes and dining insight. Reminds me of my idea to do a hip-hop cooking show. MTV holler at me.

Listen!!!

There are two gems in the clip below and in my opinion, the ode to the sausage biscuits is (We) the best.

This one is great too. "Rick Ross is like the poor people president."

This is Angoon

The homie DJ Evil One is in town from LA (Read up on the Tice Squad movement here.) and put me onto this. Apparently this video has become quite the Internet phenomenon, which is incredible because it's about a small town in SE Alaska. Enjoy.
