Hindustani Gangster

Inspired by Indian cinema of the 70's and Jay-Z's critically acclaimed album "American Gangster," "Hindustani Gangster" tells the passionate tale of a Mumbai hustler's sordid lifestyle.

Yeah. For reals. Here's more:

"The more we watched and listened to American Gangster, and the more we revisited Bollywood classics . . . the more inevitable fusing the stories of the American and Indian gangster themes became."

Read the full description and download it here.

I read about this over on DJ Eleven's Blog. You should go over there and also download his new mixtape.

Gone Too Far

The NYT just wrote an article about DJ AM and his new show on MTV. Read it HERE.

“Doing this show could certainly have been a relapse trigger for Mr. Goldstein,” said Dr. Harris Stratyner, the vice president of Caron New York, one of the oldest drug rehabilitation centers in the country, who had not met Mr. Goldstein but watched the first episode of “Gone Too Far.”

Here's the first episode, AM travels to his hometown of Philadelphia to meet the family of Amy, a 23-yr-old heroin addict who has been stealing from her loved ones to pay for her drugs.

New Curtski mix

The homie Curtis Vodka put together the 13th mix for the Canadians over on the White Light blog. It's his second for them (he also did #6) and has a great vibe. If you need a refresher on Curtis - here's a piece I wrote on him in 06.

Download the mix here.

Also, there are a bunch of other mixes (12, duh) from other assorted dope DJs on the White Light blog, a mission statement and a track listing for Curtski's new one. Definitely worth checking out and bookmarking.
