Rap music

Earlier today DJ Evil One was bragging to me about a gig at the Dime in LA and how he got to play real hip hop all night.

It made me think about 5 gems I've got on 12" that I'd love to drop for the right (read: not at an Anchorage club on the weekend) crowd.

Mood - "Karma"

Great Hi-Tek beat from his first crew.

Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf - "Methods"

Great beat by PB (also w. his first crew) and classic raps by Charizma (RIP).

Hieroglyphics - "The Who (A-Plus remix)"

I listened to the first Hiero album (and mixtapes) almost nonstop as a college freshman.

Slum Village - "Tainted"

Love that SV sound. Note: this was NOT produced by Dilla.

Redman - "Can't Wait"

Rahr Rahr. Reggie Noble rhymes and an assist from Erick Sermon on the beat.

Music for fashion lovers

I'm going to be doing an in-store at Lulu E. Bebe's (Lake Otis and Tudor) Friday, July 31, 7- 11 p.m.

Here's what Lulu had to say about the bash:

Fall Styles are coming -now that's worth celebrating. Also worth celebrating is the release of our very own lulu e. bebe brand label. We're excited about this milestone and want to make it emmorable for us and our preferred customers. So, we're throwing a fall fashion party and you are invited.

Free gift with purchase for the first 50 people, so don't miss out!

Upcoming gigs

I've been doing a lot of private parties lately (read: weddings) but I've got a couple bar gigs coming up.

Platinum Jaxx - Friday, July 24.

The Alibi in Homer - Saturday, July 25.

Act like you know.
