Day 'n' Night

Faithful Blog readers will remember my July post about Kid Cudi's 10 Deep mixtape. I always liked his 12" for Day 'n' Night.

The artwork by Dust la Rock is especially ill.

The song was remixed a couple different times, by the Crookers for the skinny jeans crowd and by Jim Jones for the baggy jeans crowd and is now getting some burn on local rap station KFAT. I've even had dudes ask me for it in the club. Local homie/promoter Hellen Killah dubbed it the new "Paper Planes." I thought that was pretty clever. Not fully true yet, maybe if ends up in the trailer of Judd Apatow's next movie.

Stars and stripes

Warning - this video may tug at your heartstrings a little. My girlfriend watched it on Dooce and I had to pass it on. Shout out to Maggie the Elephant.

Also, as a dude I've got to talk about football for a minute. Kurt Warner, I'm pulling for your arena-football playing, Hy-Vee grocery-bagging, 37-year-old ass.

As patriotic as everyone is feeling this weekend, thought I would hit you with Marvin Gaye doing a version of the National Anthem at the 1983 NBA All Star Game. This is smooth and sweet.

Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn’t seen it)

I'm sitting in bed listening to the rain and the wind. If y'all are headed out on these Anchorage roads I hope you're being careful. If you decided to stay in bed a bit longer (who am I to judge you), here's a video to watch.

Grammar police

Please do not use the term WHACK (to strike with a smart or resounding blow) when you really mean WACK (not up to the mark, lousy, lame).

Thank you.

Paris s'enflamme

Ladyhawke is a singer from New Zealand that I somehow didn't know about and now is not cool to like anymore (according to the YouTube comments they play this song in Delia's. Ouch).

Anyway, here's "Paris is Burning"

And and ill French version of it "Paris s'enflamme"

Here's a throwback joint for y'all

Get in my belly

It's been a long minute since I posted some cheap eats. Here's what's been warming my tummy uring these subzero temperatures.

Hawaiian Plate from Blue Pacific.

Pupusas from Las Pupusas.

TNT combo from Taco Loco.
